Oral surgery - Dr Martyn Parry

Oral surgery

Oral surgery involves removal of teeth, pathology, soft tissue or exposure of a buried tooth so that it can be subsequently brought into position by orthodontic means.

Tooth removal can be simple or surgical eg.to remove an impacted tooth. These procedures can be done under local anaesthesia or referred to an Oral Surgeon to be performed under IV sedation or general anaesthesia, this largely depending on patient preferences and the complexity of the procedure.

Wisdom teeth – the third molars, are a common tooth removal necessity in young adults.

Dentistry involves maintenance and improvement of the oral condition that directly affects general health by reducing harmful bacterial distribution in the bloodstream.
